Self Care Part 1: DIY Nail Care

In this challenging time, it is important for us to remember to relax and pamper ourselves occasionally for the sake of our mind, body and soul. As it is highly recommended for most to remain at home to be safe and healthy, we are here to offer tips and suggestions on how you can indulge in salon-quality treatments from head to toe in the comfort of your own home.

Step 1: Prep your nails

Remove existing polish from the nail using a lacquer remover. Saturate a cotton pad and hold on nail for 3-5 seconds, then wipe in circular motions.

Step 2: Cut & File

Gently file and shape the edges to the desired length and shape using a nail file.

Step 3: Clean your cuticles

Apply a small amount of cuticle remover around the cuticle of each nail and let sit for 30 seconds. Using a cuticle pusher or orange stick, gently lift and remove excess cuticle.

Step 4: Exfoliate 

Exfoliate hands, wrists, and forearms with a scrub to eliminate dead skin cells. Thoroughly wash hands with soap and water, then towel dry.

Step 5: Base Coat

Apply one thin layer of base coat depending on your needs.

Step 6: Color

Apply nail lacquer in two thin coats, skimming the brush across the top to prevent chipping. PRO TIP: Use the 3-stroke method for ease of application. Make sure there is enough polish on the brush - start with one stroke to the left, one stroke to the right, and one stroke down the middle to ensure smooth, even application.

Step 7: Top Coat
Seal with a layer of top coat of your choice to protect the lacquer from chipping and fading. (TIP: Touch up manicure with a layer of top coat every 2-3 days for extended wear.)

Step 8: Hydrate

Apply cuticle oil to nourish the cuticles to promote healthy nail growth and hand serum to the hands to keep them soft and supple.
